First and foremost, under the hood of this blog is WordPress.

Theme

The theme is a based on the K2 theme developed by Michael Heilemann, Chris J Davis, Zeo, Steve Lam and Ben Sherratt. Those guys do some nice work. The difference between K2 and this is rather cosmetic. Ideally, a K2 variant such as this would be able to be defined as a “style”. I wasn’t able to get it working as a style so have it as a “mod”. Perhaps I’ll eventually get around to figuring it out.

If you like it, let me know. I’ll send you what I have. If I get it polished, I’ll make a download page.

Plugins

I am using several plug-ins both third-party and homegrown.

Third Party:
These plug-ins I have obtained from others with perhaps a minor tweak here and there to get it to play nice in my sandbox:

  • Brian’s Latest Comments v1.5.7- This provides the “Recent Comments” section in the sidebar. I’m using this 99% “as is”.
  • Quoter v1.1 – Enables a commenter to quote other comments. Using 100% as is.
Homegrown

These plugins I have

  • Rate It v0.1 – Enables you to easily include a 0-5 star rating (half stars possible) anywhere on a page. Under development.
  • Simple Contact Form v0.1 – This is straight-forward contact form for send an email to the blog admin (i.e., me). In addition to the usual field checking, it also includes a verification code that is randomly generated. The code is a modified hex string that varies in length.
  • Sweet Code v0.1 – Provides source code formatting. This is based on Preserve Code Formatting v0.9 from coffee2code but is more than a straight extension. In addition to ensuring whitespace and characters are correct, this also does some basic syntax highlighting. It’s still under development (I’m still getting my PHP legs). But if you want the source, drop me a line.
